Introduction DAAD Scholarships program in Germany:

The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) Scholarships offer foreign graduates from developing and newly industrialized countries in all disciplines with at least two years of professional experience the opportunity to study for a postgraduate or master's degree at a nationally or nationally recognized German university, as well as in special case study for a PhD and obtain a German university qualification (Master/PhD).

Scholarship Benefits:

The scholarship covers €861 per month for graduates and €1,200 per month for doctoral students; payment of health, accident and personal liability insurance; and travel allowance, unless these costs are borne by the home country or other funding sources.

Master's scholarships last between 12 and 24 months (depending on the institution), and PhD scholarships last for 42 months.

Qualification for DAAD Scholarships in Germany:

Typical scholarship recipients:

  • Currently working in a public institution or in a state-owned or private company in a developing country and therefore engaged in the planning and execution of directives and projects, focusing on development policies having an impact on the technological, economic or social fields.

  • Possession of a bachelor's degree (usually four years) in a relevant discipline.

  • Have completed an academic degree with grades well above average (upper third) and have at least two years of relevant professional experience since first degree (bachelor’s) at the time of application.

  • His/her degree should normally not exceed six years.

  • For German study courses (the scholarship covers a 6-month German course): Successfully pass the language exam DSH 2 or TestDaF 4 before the start of the study course. Therefore, a minimum German language level of B1 is required when applying and this needs to be proven by providing a certificate.

  • For English courses: Provide evidence of adequate language skills as specified in the respective course.
